Deutz AG is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of drive systems, offering a wide range of products and solutions including diesel, gas, and electric engines as well as gensets. Deutz started their collaboration with us because they aimed to enhance efficiency by automating routine checks of drawings, allowing their engineers to focus on other tasks.
As Uwe Giessler, Head of Standardization, Trademarks and Patents, at Deutz AG explains it:
“The reason for starting with AI Review is that we wanted to get a more efficient check of drawings. There is always the question if something needs to be done by a human or if we can automate repetitive tasks. When doing repetitive tasks, a person always makes human errors as well. We wanted to have a 100 % effective check.”
After understanding Deutz drawing requirements, AI Review was customized and trained to align with their specific standards. AI Review checks each drawing and gives feedback with information on the errors found, both on the drawing and in a summarized report. According to Uwe, AI Review “is also a valuable tool for the designers to maintain their knowledge of the company’s standards.”
The feedback from AI Review also addresses another challenge in the review process, as explained by Uwe:
“Errors are often communicated between two people, and once resolved, only they know the solution. The process of documenting these corrections can be time-consuming. The AI feedback provides direct documentation on the drawings, allowing designers to view and review it at the right time. The work can therefore easily be picked up the next day or if needed, tasks can be managed in the absence of a colleague.”
